Brownies 23 East

Postby Raquel » Sun Nov 08, 2009 11:16 pm

Dear Splintered family,

I'm sad to say the band has been put on alert and it is time to hit the "panic" button as far as Thursday night shows are concerned. The next few weeks will determine the band's future at Brownies. At this point, It's a simple matter of numbers or paying bodies, if you will. If we continue to have only 58 people in attendance, we will surely lose this gig. (((swallowing lump in throat))).

We have begun a campaign to save this weekly show. We love you guys and having this weekly escape so we will do everything in our power to save this gig, stepped-up advertising and handing out flyers and such but we need all of your help! We need your support now more than ever. If you can come out and support the band on Thursday nights, it would be most appreciated! Even if you can only stay for first set, your support may insure this gig continues for years to come.

If you are able to hand out flyers where you live, work or go to school, please let me know and I will make sure to get some to you. Any help you can provide the band in promoting this weekly show will be most appreciated!

Thanks & <3

Raquel:
Please let me know what I can do...hand out flyers, etc...I think WE should have frequent flyer cards...but that I mean you get a card stamped each week when you come and after say 10 shows you get a choice of any show for free....also having a marketing person is helpful...I would love to do it for the band if possible.I got tons of idea and ways of promoting thursday night...just let me know.

love to you all'

This is like a punch in the stomach.

Raquel - can you send out e-mails to registered users on the board here to get the word out????

Worst case scenario, can they switch days to a tuesday instead of getting rid of splintered in full? I can do something to help....not sure of attending unless someone can come and watch mason, than I will proudly come every week;) xo ;-)

New bar, new stage, new sound system, better beer, better prices....A close friend of mine works there; apparently they are looking for bands...a weekly Splintered night there could be nice! :!:

Will Definitely put the word out about Brownies....they don't know what they would be missing!

Hey Dave- that link didn't work....byt definitely call them...try to get contact info for Butchy, Mario and Anders....I was also thinking:

Starlight Ballroom Dance Club

Neighborhoods: Callowhill, Spring Garden
460 N 9th Street
Philadelphia, PA 19123

(215) 769-1530

I believe R5 would be the promoters to talk to....they do first unitarian shows...including this sunday Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeroes
Let there be songs, to fill the air

This is terrible news. How can they base the entire year on a few weeks attendance ??? They have to go by the averages for the year. Yeah, we will have 58 heads on some Thursdays in July too ! That's not the band's fault. What kind of owner do we have now ? Any business savy whatsoever ? Suggestions from Joe Rufo ? I knew we were in trouble when they canned our man Dan. I'll be there, I'll take some flyers to go. Hell, I'll be a trigger hippie and go out on the street, mug people and drag them into Brownie's if I have to!!
