Dear Splintered Family,


As of January 8th, I will be stepping down as the piano player for Splintered Sunlight. January 7th, at Brownies 23 East, will be my last show as a permanent member of the band.

This decision was one of the hardest I've ever had to make, truly. My band mates are like brothers to me, and you all are sincerely my family. Over the past 8 years we have shared many magical, beautiful moments together. There are no ill feelings towards anyone in the band... quite the opposite. I will miss making music with them week after week, and I will certainly miss all of you.

There are a lot of wonderful musical opportunities that have been coming my way lately, and it became clear to me that I just can't do everything. I believe my decision to leave as a permanent member is the fair choice for everyone, especially so the band can maintain continuity.

I'm sure you will see me up on stage with the boys again...I won't be able to stay away for too long! Like I said, there are no hard feelings between anyone, and I will gladly play with them as needed.

I love you all, and will miss you very much...

Mikey, I'm just sorry I missed the first five years of your tenure with this wonderful band; which you have so richly enhanced. I admit I don't adapt well to changes like this. Damn! I'm sure going to miss you my friend but wish only the best for what's in store for you and sure hope you do come back and visit. Thank you for your talents and making Thursday nights as special as they are.

Too many highlights come to mind, but a few I'll never forget are: you pounding your feet on the keys at the Sellersville Theater, and two awesome songs your rolled out at Carl's: Mandolin Rain and Rocket Man.

oh dear...I've seen some come and go, but I think I really hate to see you go Mike. Thanks for all the wonderful musical moments, too many to name...gosh we're really gonna miss you! Much love and best wishes, you are quite the musician, so I am sure I will see you in other musical capacities, and hopefully you DO come back and see us sometimes...but I will always be grateful for your huge contribution in my own personal GD band.
