Brownies 23 East - Closed!

Postby Raquel » Tue Nov 30, 2010 7:15 pm

Dear Splintered Family, Sadly, due to economic hardship, Brownies 23 East has closed it's doors. Starting this Thursday, December 2nd, Splintered Sunlight will no longer play at Brownies on Thursdays. The end of an era but when one door closes another opens. We are working on exciting alternate plans and will make an announcement shortly. Thank you for 15 wonderful years!

OMG    John sent me a message this morning and I was like whaaatttt???? So of course I came on here to check:( Well, I do know one thing........splintered family does not give up that easily so I am sure that in no time, there will be another regular gig that hopefully everyone can get to. I am still pretty shocked though.......considering I spent many days here watching you all, esp. before the little man came. Thanks for the heads up though..........love u raquel

I do believe it is done, done, done - effective immediately. I tried calling Brownie's repeatedly last night after reading Racquel's note and no one answered the phone.

Blockley Pourhouse, here we come ........... :?: :?:

We have had the pleasure of enjoying the band in so many different venues over the years - Middle East, Brownie's, Maui, Stone Pony, Triumph, Chestnut Cabaret, Ski Trips, Appalachian Brewing Co., The Vault, World Cafe, Kimmel Center, South Street Halloween, Phoenixville Street Fair, New World Cafe, Bethlehem - my fingers grow tired and I haven't even listed half of the venues.

Those memories will live on, as will the friendships we've made and the good times we've had along the way. Keep the faith, dudes - and look forward to new memories yet to be made.

Jen's fractured ankle is almost healed - her cast comes off and she gets a walking boot this Friday. Hope to see y'all soon.

Damn, I really liked that place! I thought it was in the middle of several colleges...how the hell does a bar go belly up in a college town?

I was thinking the same thing
Maybe if they opened up earlier a tried to get some of those college students in there they wouldn't have this problem now

There are SEVERAL colleges in the area. Villanova, Harcum, Bryn Mawr, and Rosemont. Not to mention its the MAIN LINE, for crying out loud! I guess in this economy not matter if you bank shows they have more money than God, they still don't have enough money to buy a cup of coffee!

Wow!
This will be a hard act to follow! But I've seen this happen before in So Cal and somehow the next place becomes as good as the one that was left! Any thought about that place in Schwenksville on the 73? That was a good place!
I'm sure the band will find a suitable place..hopefully to start this year.....
My NY resolution last year was to catch at least 30 splintered shows and I'm currently at 28 for the year...

Hopefully the next place wont be next to a police station!

At least we have the archives!

I'm still recovering from this news, but that is a funny line Mike!

Brownie's will be hard to replace, but glad to see the band already has plans and will continue on.

I Was Sad About It, But Then I Thought......
1. They Prolly Won't Replace Brownie's With A Mosque
2. A Restaurant Would Be A Bad Idea
3.Someone Else Will Buy The Place & We Can Go Back

I Had LOTS Of GREAT Times At Brownie's.....
Gonna Miss It.........
They Should Have Given Us Notice
I'm Gonna Call Or E-Mail Sara & Ask If We Can Have "1 Last Show"
Even If It's Bring Your Own Beverages

Please call 610-639-8389 with any questions and management will return your call. We apologize for any inconvienence and hope to see you all in a few weeks! Thank you.
